It turns out that the Core development team has lost the trust of the Chinese Bitcoin community

On June 18, Bitcoin mining pool Bitfury began to write "NYA" in the block to express support for Segwit2x's expansion plan. Before that, Bitcoin mining pool Bitfury supported user-activated soft forks . This change also shows that the New York Consensus has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. So far, the mining pools that have expressed their support for the New York Agreement by writing "NYA" in the block are Antpool, Bitcoin.com, Bixin, BTC.com, BTC.top, F2pool, Viabtc and 1hash. The supported computing power is close to 70%.

A month ago, global miners and Bitcoin companies held a capacity expansion conference in New York. Barry Silbert, CEO of the world-renowned Bitcoin company Digital Currency Group (DGC), proposed the Segwit + 2M capacity expansion plan at the conference, which won the favor of the delegates and eventually reached the New York Consensus. Barry Silbert also announced the latest progress of the implementation of the New York Consensus on Twitter every day.

In China, in order to smoothly promote the implementation of the New York Consensus Segwit2x and thwart the conspiracy of a few Bitcoin developers who tried to split Bitcoin by activating isolated verification through BIP148 (user-activated soft fork), under the appeal of PZ, Secretary-General of the Litecoin Foundation, Chinese miners and exchanges held a Bitcoin roundtable meeting, at which they reiterated their support for the New York Consensus; called for the activation of the New York Consensus SegWit2x plan to be brought forward to July 31; and officially started the miners' network voting to support the New York Consensus SegWit2x plan on June 19 .

The implementation of the New York Consensus is the responsibility of the SegWit2x team and Bitcoin core developer Jeff Garzik . The alpha code has been successfully launched. According to the resolution of the China Bitcoin Roundtable, miners will immediately start testing the New York Consensus SegWit2x solution btc1 software and join testnet5, and will deploy it as soon as possible after the official version is released .

A hard fork with a 2M capacity expansion will be performed within three months after activating Segregated Verification ( Segwit ) on the Segwit2x client .

The smooth implementation of the New York Consensus also completely thwarted the core development team 's unwarranted attacks on the Segwit2x solution. Previously, the core development team attacked Jeff Gasick as a pseudo-Bitcoin development leader who had never contributed code to Bitcoin development; they attacked the SegWit2x solution for being too hasty and the technology was immature; they attacked the New York Consensus for being the result of closed-door meetings of a few companies and not having a broad consensus. However, in the face of reality, all attacks seem so pale and powerless.

Segwit2x is exactly the same as the client of the core development team, with only a few minor changes, and the network miners voted to activate the isolated verification and hard fork. This also reaffirmed the technical strength of the core development team. There are indeed many things that can be learned, but high IQ and low EQ cannot be forgiven.

The smooth implementation of the New York Consensus can expand the capacity of the block to about 4M, and one block can process 8,000 to 10,000 transactions. The New York Consensus is an advanced version of the Hong Kong Consensus and is more popular in the community. In this process, Bitcoin users who hold private keys do not need to perform too many complicated operations.

Finally, I hope that when the tide is turned and most of the computing power in the entire network chooses to support the Segwit2x solution, the very small number of Bitcoin developers will not stand in opposition to the community and use their technical advantages to undermine the smooth implementation of the New York Consensus.
