Google Trends Analysis: Bitcoin, Mining, and Ethereum became the three most popular words in the first half of 2017

Google analyzed the keywords related to cryptocurrency that Russian residents searched for in the first half of this year. Searches for keywords such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, cryptocurrency, and cryptocurrency mining have increased significantly. Google revealed that the fastest-growing searches were for information related to Ethereum, which increased by 760% , and searches related to Bitcoin increased by 220% .

In addition, Google pointed out that in the first six months of this year, the number of searches for the keyword ICO (Initial Coin Offerings) "increased significantly", but they did not list specific data.

Regions with the highest growth rates

Some would have thought that such trends would extend from central Russia to the regional regions, but this is not the case.

Meanwhile, Kaliningrad residents were more inclined to search for mining-related content in the first half of 2017, with related searches increasing by 674%.

Last week, Vladimir Zarudny, head of the Kaliningrad Development Corporation, said he would bring cryptocurrency mines to the city. He believes that cryptocurrency will be legalized in Russia by 2018, and cryptocurrency mining will become a new business model.
