Ma'anshan City has seized 35 cases of Bitcoin machines stealing electricity this year

On November 20, following a report from the public, the anti-electricity theft staff of Ma'anshan Power Supply Company successfully uncovered a case of electricity theft involving 10 Bitcoin mining machines in a resident's home in Huicheng Shangdong Community. All the mining machines have been handed over to the police for seizure, and the case is being handled later. This year, Ma'anshan Power Supply Company has worked closely with the local police and has verified a total of 35 cases of electricity theft involving Bitcoin mining machines, involving 380 mining machines.

Bitcoin is an electronic network currency. To search for Bitcoin in the virtual network, one needs to use a high-end electronic computer equipped with a GPU (called a mining machine). The GPU is more efficient than an ordinary computer CPU and requires a large amount of electricity to operate and dissipate heat continuously, so criminals have resorted to stealing electricity.

Ma'anshan Power Supply Company has always regarded Bitcoin electricity theft as one of the key points of its anti-electricity theft work. On the basis of taking special measures to rectify large-scale Bitcoin electricity theft in factory areas, warehouses, etc. in 2016, in 2017, the scope of investigation and investigation of Bitcoin electricity theft was extended to low-voltage residential households. During the operation, the company used personnel inspections, online monitoring of power supply and consumption information collection systems, power load analysis and other methods to obtain clues of electricity theft and conduct detailed investigations. It also worked closely with the public security, procuratorial and judicial departments to effectively crack down on and investigate Bitcoin electricity theft crimes. At the same time, the company's anti-electricity theft staff went deep into communities and villages to carry out anti-electricity theft publicity activities, establish citizens' awareness of "using electricity in accordance with the law and safely", open up a wide range of sources of clues for cases, encourage citizens to report illegal acts of electricity theft, and create a good atmosphere of electricity order.
