Don't want to buy Bitcoin but want a piece of the action? Wall Street's "veteran" analysts: These stocks are worth buying

Thomas Lee, head of research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, has been bullish on Bitcoin. In his latest report, he said that investors can gain exposure to blockchain by buying stocks.

He said: "Bitcoin's correlation with the stock market, bond market and commodities is almost zero, which makes it a good risk diversification tool. But for stock investment managers, buying Bitcoin may not be practical."

He suggested that stock market investment managers could buy the following stocks: Bitcoin Investment Trust, MGT Capital Investments Inc, HIVE Blockchain Technologies Ltd, US Global Investors Inc, DigitalX Ltd, Nvidia, AMD, CME Group Inc, Cboe Global Markets Inc, Overstock.com Inc, Goldman Sachs, Square Inc.

This Sunday, Cboe Global Markets will launch bitcoin futures, making it the first exchange to offer a bitcoin futures contract.

Among the four major U.S. exchanges, Nasdaq, CME and Cboe Global Markets Inc all plan to enter the cryptocurrency derivatives market. Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, is the only major exchange that has not yet announced similar plans.

Bitcoin supporters point out that if Bitcoin accounts for even a small portion of the world's $200 trillion in traditional financial market assets, its value will appreciate significantly.

Although the launch of Bitcoin futures will attract more investors' attention, it will also make shorting Bitcoin easier.

According to US media reports, several hedge funds are gearing up to short Bitcoin through futures contracts.

Craig Pirrong, a professor at the University of Houston College of Business, told the US media: "Relative to reducing the difficulty of going long on Bitcoin, futures have made it easier to go short, which will have a net negative effect. With this tool that makes it easier for investors to go short, the price of Bitcoin can be closer to reality."
