Tencent intercepts Trojans embedded in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds plug-ins: 200,000 computers turned into mining machines

Yesterday, Tencent Computer Manager released a report that it had captured an HSR coin mining Trojan in the auxiliary program of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. HSR coin, nicknamed "red braised pork" coin online, is a new cryptocurrency.

The report stated that the mining Trojan, named tlMiner, was launched by a game support team and has affected hundreds of thousands of user machines. Since PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has high requirements for computer performance, it has become a target for criminals, turning players' computers into "perfect" mining machines.

According to the report, although the auxiliary program has existed for a long time, the mining Trojan was not implanted into it and affected user machines until the new version of the auxiliary program was released on December 8, and reached its peak on December 20. On the 20th alone, nearly 200,000 machines were affected by the mining Trojan.

The report finally reminds users to enable system updates and apply patches in a timely manner, pay attention to suspicious processes, and do not use auxiliary and unknown software.
