IPFS hard disk mining machine manufacturer "Maya Technology" received 50 million yuan in Series A financing, led by Jidou Capital (accounting for about 20%) and followed by Byte Capital. This round of financing will mainly be used for product optimization and updating, brand building and team expansion.

The fluctuation of the coin price has a significant impact on retail miners, large mining farms and mining machine manufacturers in the mining industry chain. When the coin price is constant, computing power and electricity costs are the key factors that determine whether mining is profitable. With the surge in Bitcoin prices, which has quadrupled for three consecutive months since September last year, the mining machine market and mining machine industry chain have matured rapidly in the short term. However, the growth of mining machine demand and production capacity is seriously unequal, the profit harvesting period has passed, and all participants in the mining machine industry chain are "trapped".

In response to the above pain points, Maya Technology, a company contacted by Odaily Planet Daily recently, changed its mining strategy, abandoning the public chain that is more congested, has been hacked many times, and is difficult to run for large-scale applications, and mainly conducts mining operations on the public chain system based on the IPFS protocol. In addition, the company also launched cloud computing mining services to stimulate the mining market by lowering the investment threshold for mining machines.

Maya Technology was founded in December 2017. It is a distributed storage mining machine manufacturer represented by the image of Mayan civilization. Its main businesses include mining machines, mining machine hosting and cloud computing mining.

At present, three mining machines have been developed, namely the Ethereum graphics card mining machine Maya D1 (priced at 21,999 yuan), the industrial-grade IPFS hard disk mining machine Maya H1 (priced at 12,999 yuan) and the household hard disk mining machine Maya H2 (priced at 3,999 yuan). The Maya H1 and Maya H2 mining machines are customized operating systems for IPFS (InterPlanetary File System, a network transmission protocol for distributed storage and shared files) miners. They have large storage capacity, support hot-swap functions, and hard disks are compatible with hard disks of different brands and capacities. The main mining currencies are IPFS, brust, storj, etc.

Maya Technology COO Lin Biaoxiang told Odaily Planet Daily that Maya Technology's mines are currently distributed in Fujian, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, with a single mine having several thousand mining machines. In addition to internal mining, mining machines are mainly used for mining machine hosting services for B-end customers. In addition to the above four self-built mines, it has now cooperated with the mining company Kuangshiyun to utilize the latter's mining resources. However, Lin Biaoxiang said that future development will still focus on self-built mines, and is currently expanding overseas mines.

Another business line of Maya Technology is cloud computing power mining service. Through the form of computing power leasing, computing power is remotely rented to users online, similar to crowdfunding mining, which reduces the investment threshold of mining machines. Users conduct remote mining through the Internet, and the digital currency generated by computing power is directly deposited into the user's account. This service was launched recently, and currently has several thousand users.

At present, there are other cloud computing mining companies, such as Kuangshi Cloud Computing, Ethereum Cloud Investment for ETH-related industrial chains, and GmsHash Cloud Computing Contract. The business model of cloud computing mining is progressive, but the protection of investment assets and risk control are still weak links.

Li Yong, partner of Jidou Capital, the investor, said that he is more optimistic about the team background of Maya Technology and the development of the IPFS public chain underlying Maya Technology, and intends to lay out the entire blockchain industry chain. Currently, Jidou Capital has invested in blockchain companies such as Kuangshi Cloud Computing, ChainPlus, and Shangya Exchange.

The Maya Technology team currently has more than a dozen members. The core team consists of three people, including Zhang Jialiang, the founder of Maya Technology, who started to participate in Bitcoin mining in 2012 and was one of the earliest miners of Ethereum; Yang Xiaoming, the co-founder, who founded the smart hardware manufacturing company "Green Giant Energy" and has many years of experience in the research and development of digital currency mining machines; and Lin Biaoxiang, the COO of Maya Technology, who has many years of experience in the Internet and digital currency investment.
