Kaspersky: Cryptojacking and mining on the rise

According to Russian cybersecurity company Kaspersky, there were 751,606 cases of cryptocurrency extortion in 2017-2018, almost half of the 1,152,299 cases in 2016-2017. The number of cryptocurrency hijacking cases increased from 1.9 million to 2.7 million during the same period. Kaspersky researchers said that the longer cryptocurrency hijackers remain hidden, the more they profit, so victims may not notice the hijacking for some time.
