Bitmain selected as one of 21 nodes to process transactions on EOS

On Tuesday, Bitmain became one of 21 entities allowed to process transactions on the nascent EOS network, having received enough votes.

The China-based company, which is known for producing cryptocurrency mining hardware and supporting a large-scale way to trade bitcoin, has become an active EOS block producer, which allows it to be compensated for processing transactions and enforcing the network’s constitution.

Bitmain’s campaign, EOS AntPool, as the name implies, is based on running AntPool, one of Bitmain’s two large mining pool subsidiaries (the other is BTC.com). Bitmain also provided $3 million in funding to ViaBTC in 2017, which operates a mid-sized mining pool.
