Monero, the full name of Monero, is referred to as XMR. Since the last hard fork, it has smoothly transitioned to version V7. It has used the new algorithm Cryptonight V7 to block the ASIC mining machine of the previous version of Cryptonight algorithm and has been running stably for half a year. This time, it ushered in its V8 version hard fork upgrade. This upgrade will be completed at the Monero block height 1685555, and is expected to be completed around 21:00 on October 18, 2018, Beijing time. The upgraded Monero will use the Cryptonight Variant2 algorithm, also known as the Cryptonight V8 algorithm. By then, the Cryptonight V7 algorithm will no longer support Monero mining. At the same time, Monero officials have also launched a new Monero full-node wallet client. Friends who use the Monero full-node wallet can visit the Monero official website (getmonero.org) to obtain the latest version of the wallet client. With the ASICization of mainstream graphics card algorithms such as Equihash, Lyra2REv2, Blake256R14, CryptoNight, and Blake2B, ASIC miners are gradually eroding the living space of graphics card miners. ASIC miners have a computing power far exceeding that of graphics card miners and are constantly iterating and upgrading, which greatly reduces the profit margin of graphics card miners. At the same time, it also makes miners who bought ASIC miners later fall into a dilemma of having no prospect of making a profit in the face of the rapid increase in mining difficulty. The official Monero team has successfully resisted the ASICization of Monero mining machines by continuously iterating and upgrading the mining algorithm. As the mainstream graphics card algorithms are gradually being conquered by ASIC mining machines, XMR has become a standout, helping graphics card miners maintain their profits and bring some comfort to survive the cold winter. Since the second half of 2017, F2Pool has become the first domestic mainstream mining pool to support Monero XMR mining, and has been providing stable and considerate mining services for miners. In response to the Monero XMR hard fork upgrade, F2Pool has completed the relevant deployment work. Miners only need to follow the mining tutorial of F2Pool (https://blog.f2pool.com/zh/mining-tutorial/%E9%97%A8%E7%BD%97%E5%B8%81xmr%E6%8C%96%E7%9F%BF%E6%95%99%E7%A8%8B) and upgrade the mining software in time. After the Monero XMR upgrade, you can mine normally. The mining tutorial can be obtained by clicking "Read original text" at the end of the article. The mining software xmrig provided by Monero can automatically identify mining tasks and switch mining algorithms when using the default settings. Using the new version of xmrig software in advance can complete the seamless switch of Monero algorithm upgrade. If miners use cast software, they need to follow the mining tutorial of F2Pool after the Monero hard fork upgrade is completed, and change the algo parameter to: --algo 10, and use the cryptonight V8 algorithm for mining. |
