The Antminer S15 is packed in a five-layer industrial carton. The protective layer of the miner packaging is made of pearl cotton board, which can effectively ensure the transportation safety of the miner and reduce collisions during transportation. In addition to the miner, the box also contains a Chinese and English manual for the miner.

S15 adopts 4 hashboards + 1 control board design. There are two cooling fans on the front of the mining machine. From the front of the mining machine, you can see the network cable interface, reset button, IP Report button and status indicator light of the mining machine.

The back of the mining machine is a honeycomb heat dissipation network, and the side is the mining machine power supply.

Installation and Debugging

This test was conducted in an office with a room temperature of 26 degrees. The mining pool was Ant Mining Pool. The installation of S15 is very simple. You only need to connect the mining machine to the network cable and power cable.

After completing the wiring, start to power on the miner. Wait a few minutes until the green light on the miner starts to flash, then start to find the miner IP and enter the miner management backend. Fill in the mining pool mining service address in the URL, fill in your miner number in the worker column, and the password column does not need to be changed. Click Save to complete the setting, and the miner starts working.

Noise and temperature

After the mining machine has been running stably for a period of time, we measured the noise. At a distance of 10cm from the air inlet of the mining machine, the noise of the mining machine was measured to be about 73.9 decibels. (It is not a laboratory silent environment and will be disturbed by environmental noise)

Using a temperature tester, the temperature at the air inlet of the mining machine was measured to be around 30 degrees, and the temperature at the air outlet was around 36.6 degrees.

As of the deadline (January 7, 2019), according to the PPS+ mining revenue model of Ant Pool, in standard mode, the average computing power of S15 is 28.05TH/S per day, the power consumption is 1652W, the measured energy efficiency ratio is 59J/T , and the revenue for 24 hours a day is 0.0012BTC;

In low-power mode, the average daily computing power of S15 is 17.54TH/S , the power consumption is 855.4W, the measured energy efficiency ratio is 49J/T , and the profit for 24 hours a day is 0.00075BTC; here we would like to remind everyone that the profit of the mining machine is adjusted with the difficulty of mining.

Evaluation Summary

In actual evaluation, the computing power of S15 is basically consistent with the nominal value in both standard mode and low power mode. The measured power consumption in standard mode is 1652W, 3% higher than the rated power consumption of 1596W, which is within the normal fluctuation range; the measured energy efficiency ratio in low power mode is 48J/T, 4% lower than the rated energy efficiency ratio of 50J/T, which is also within the normal fluctuation range.
