According to media reports, fraudsters recently sent Bitcoin scam emails to financial advisors pretending to be the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to lure victims into a scam. It is reported that the scam emails are characterized by using the official logo of the FCA and claiming "guaranteed money-making opportunities" in the subject line of the emails. The scam email also suggests that the value of Bitcoin will rise by 5.33% in the next 12 months. It encourages recipients to click on a link that will redirect to a problematic website. The email also states that "Bitcoin's peak price is still far from the $20,000 it reached in 2017, but some cryptocurrency experts believe that by 2020, the price of Bitcoin may be even higher." The FCA officially confirmed that it did not send such emails. The official said that these letters are likely to be related to fraud organizations and it is recommended not to respond in any way. |
