The accomplice of the Zhenjiang "mining machine" stealing electricity to mine Bitcoin was arrested

On August 31, the reporter learned from the Dantu Procuratorate in Zhenjiang that recently, the Dantu District People's Procuratorate of Zhenjiang City approved the arrest of Zhu Moumou, a co-conspirator in the "3.7" major "mining machine" stealing electricity to mine Bitcoin. The prosecutor said that this case is the largest case of electricity theft uncovered in Jiangsu since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it has attracted great public attention. Zhu Moumou provided a place for the criminals who stole electricity, and in less than 10 months, he received a "benefit fee" of 180,000 yuan, and the amount involved in the theft of electricity was as high as more than 3 million yuan.

According to Zhu's confession, in July 2018, he suddenly received a call from Wang (who has been approved for arrest), saying that a friend named Lan (Lan, who has been approved for arrest) wanted to set up a factory, and asked him to help him find an idle factory building with transformer equipment in a remote location, and promised to pay a considerable "gratuity". Zhu, who had no fixed income and was short of money, agreed to this "good thing" without asking any questions. Within a few days, he helped Wang find a factory building, and also helped Wang and Lan "smooth out" the relationship. Then, at the end of each month, he would receive transfers ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 yuan.

In March 2019, the Zhenjiang Power Supply Company reported to the public security authorities that since 2018, it has been found that users in Zhenjiang New District and Dantu Xinfeng, Gaoqiao, Guyang, Jiangxin and other places have used a lot of electricity. However, the meter counts showed very little. Based on this, they suspected that there were major illegal acts of electricity theft in these areas.

After nearly two months of meticulous investigation by the public security organs, it has been basically determined that a criminal gang with Lan Moumou, Wang Moumou and others as main members rented factories in Zhenjiang New District and Dantu Xinfeng, Guyang and other places to install "mining" equipment in batches and committed the crime of stealing national electricity.

In May 2019, the police organized more than 100 police officers to launch a capture operation against Lan, Wang and others, arrested 22 people involved in the case on the spot, and seized more than 3,000 "mining" equipment. In July 2019, the suspect Zhu was criminally detained by the public security organs on suspicion of theft. After calculation, Lan and others stole a total of more than 3 million yuan in the state electricity price in the factory provided by Zhu. In August 2019, the public security organs transferred Zhu to the Dantu District People's Procuratorate for review and approval of arrest on suspicion of theft. However, Zhu argued that he was not aware that Lan and others had stolen state electricity, and the money he collected was just a "benefit fee." In the end, in the face of evidence from bank account flows, information call records and relevant witness testimonies, Zhu admitted all his crimes.
