When the cryptocurrency market was booming in 2017, everyone was counting the great achievements of Bitcoin over the years:

It took 3206 days to go from $0 to $5000.

It took 46 days to increase from $5,000 to $10,000;

It took 9 days to increase from $10,000 to $15,000;

It took 8 hours to increase from $15,000 to $19,000;

Tweet from Bitcoin investor Trace Mayer, November 28, 2017

As the 10,000-dollar mark was broken and the 20,000-dollar mark was approaching, various analysts gave optimistic predictions on the future price trend of Bitcoin: Denmark's Sequoia Bank released a report saying that Bitcoin will unprecedentedly break through 60,000 US dollars in 2018; independent analyst Ronnie Moas claimed that after Bitcoin broke through the 20,000-dollar mark, it would soar to six figures in a short period of time; and the founder of Morgan Creek Asset Management predicted that the price of a single Bitcoin would exceed 400,000 US dollars in the future.

Tweets from John McAfee, founder of antivirus software McAfee, on July 18 and November 29, 2017

Of course, the subsequent story did not develop in the direction everyone expected; in 2018, the price of Bitcoin fell straight down like a vertical roller coaster, and 2019 was no exception. The market continued to decline and is still sluggish. However, this market environment still cannot stop those who are optimistic about the extremely optimistic six-digit valuation. The most outrageous one is John McAfee, the founder of the antivirus software McAfee, who bet on himself. At the end of 2017, he made a boast that the price of Bitcoin would reach 1 million US dollars in 2020; in October 2019, he directly doubled the valuation and threatened that BTC would rise to 2 million US dollars per coin.

John McAfee’s tweet, January 5, 2020

In the words of Uncle Mac, the valuation of Bitcoin is like a child's play. But at the beginning of the year, he also admitted on Twitter that the bets and predictions are just rhetoric to attract new users. What will be the future trend of Bitcoin? Let time give the answer.
