ECC director dispute re-emerges: accused responds in 3 points

ECC Executive Director Bob Summerwill refuted a series of allegations previously made by ECC Director James Wo.

On March 17, Ethereum Classic Collective (ECC) director James Wo announced his decision to leave the non-profit research organization focused on the ETC network.

Wo, one of three ECC board members and founder of Ethereum Classic Labs, another ETC research group, said his resignation was due to disagreements with the organization’s executive director, Bob Summerwill.

According to the statement, in addition to resigning from the board of directors, Wo will also end his financial support for ECC in 2019 and 2020, although he claimed that he "provided significant funding" in 2018. It is reported that ECC is a research organization supported by Digital Currency Group and focuses on the development of ETC.

ECC Executive Director Bob Summerwill refuted this. Summerwill said: "Less than two hours after the (annual shareholders' meeting) started, James was removed from the board for legitimate reasons." Blockchain engineer Elaine Ou, Grayscale Investments Legal Director Craig Salm and ETCDEV consultant Roy Zou joined the board.

Summerwill responded to each accusation in turn. First, regarding the “Pet project” and financial mismanagement, likely referring to his oversight of potential changes to the ETC algorithm: “This is a primary concern and needs to be discussed continuously. We are funding implementation and testing work to de-risk this hypothesis.”

The second is travel expenses. Summerwill did not deny it. He attended several Ethereum events this year, including ETHDenver and ETHCC. "Our team is small, and one-on-one contact is very important. This is the strategy, nothing strange."

Once again, it was nepotism. Summerwill said, "I announced our relationship when she (his fiancée) took office. The board knew about it." In addition, he said, "Alison is not just an accountant. She is a CPA and financial director with many years of relevant professional experience."
