Blockai now allows web content creators to record cryptographic verification of their works on the Bitcoin blockchain, which can provide basic copyright protection and help work owners eliminate copyright infringement.

Copyright protection is profitable

According to Blockai, copyright protection generates more than $1.126 trillion in revenue per year in the U.S. alone, due to the cost of registering with the U.S. government, a slow and time-consuming process that mostly benefits large corporations.

Copyright registration is one of the most important components of the world economy, protecting all creative works such as art, photographs, songs, videos, literature, architecture and computer software.

Earlier this year, Blockai raised $547,000 in seed funding and relaunched in March as a blockchain copyright service. Originally set to be a ‘Bitcoin Netscape browser’ in 2015, the company is now turning the blockchain into a social media stream that will allow users to send messages and verify works.

A bright future for artists?

While the current Internet has made it easier than ever for artists to create and share their works, they can only profit from large corporations because the Internet cannot protect their copyrights and they cannot afford the cost of registering them with the U.S. Copyright Office.

Creative works will be more fulfilling in the future, and Blockai aims to help artists earn a good living by creating and publishing works to the internet, especially by leveraging sites that share the profits of their creative works.

A permanent timestamp on the Blockai Bitcoin blockchain can provide a proof-of-publication weapon to help protect every creator, and can send cease and desist letters or DMCA notices to force websites to remove copyrighted works, otherwise they will be held legally liable.
