Who is the mysterious "roadside mining pool"? Maybe it is formed by multiple large miners

The dull halving period was broken by a mysterious mining pool.

On the afternoon of May 13, a mining pool named "Lubian" suddenly appeared in the mining pool rankings of BTC.com browser. It once ranked sixth with a computing power of more than 6000P, and is currently close to fifth, directly surpassing the three major exchange mining pools that are currently in the limelight. Lubian Mining Pool started to produce blocks on April 24, and the number of blocks produced has now exceeded 140.

People from BTC.com revealed that the mining pool was connected to the browser on its own without any previous warning.

The official website of Roadside Mining Pool calls it "the world's safest high-yield mining pool" (this seems to seriously violate the Advertising Law). It uses an original architecture to effectively prevent various attacks. The leading mining model greatly increases production capacity, and multiple nodes are deployed around the world to maintain stable global mining services.

The domain name lubian.com was created on May 7, 2004. It may have been acquired by the founder of the mining pool. As to why it has such an interesting name, it is still unknown.

The name Lubian has also triggered everyone's imagination and ridicule. Some people say it is "next to Bitmain" (maybe it was founded by a former employee from the mainland), and some people say it is the "Lubian" mining pool. However, almost no one in the mining and currency circles knows its true identity.

There have been several unreliable speculations about the origin of Lubian:

First, the computing power comes from the Better Mining Pool, which previously announced its withdrawal from the BTC mining field. But Wu said that after blockchain verification, the original computing power of the Better Mining Pool has been dispersed to various mining pools, including the Binance Mining Pool, which is currently offering 0-fee rewards. In addition, the computing power of the Better Mining Pool was only 4000P before, which is lower than the 6000P of the current Roadside Mining Pool.

Second, the hashrate comes from the CoinIn mining pool, which is currently experiencing a rapid decline in hashrate. Some even say that this may be related to personnel changes at CoinIn. People close to CoinIn have also denied this. As for the rapid decline in CoinIn’s hashrate, it may be related to the large number of original low-hashrate mining machines and their shutdown after the halving.

Third, since the Chinese mining circle is unknown, could it be from overseas? However, the Lubian mining pool only has a Chinese website and the name "Lubian", which obviously cannot be from overseas.

Finally, the only reasonable logic is that, similar to the previous BitTorrent mining pool, the roadside mining pool comes from the combination of several large miners, otherwise it would be impossible to gather 6000P computing power in a short period of time without anyone knowing. The reason for launching it after the halving may be that when the total computing power decreases, it can quickly occupy the computing power share and increase the luck value.

However, the core question that the outside world is puzzled about is why miners still want to build their own mining pools and join this thankless battle when, for example, the Better Mining Pool has withdrawn. If they want to continue to increase computing power in the future, they will inevitably join the already very fierce mining pool price war.
