On September 24th, Beijing time, at the critical time when Filecoin Space Race 2 has already started, the Filecoin official team launched an AMA activity to the community. So, what was mentioned this time? Let's take a look~ Q1: Will the rewards from the space race be paid out? A: All FIL rewards from the space race will be released within 6 months after the mainnet starts. Q2: Will there be a special reward structure for the two tracks of Space Race 2, Orbital Burn and Slingshot? A: Yes, we will have a specific reward structure for both tracks of Space Race 2. For the track Orbital Burn, the main mechanism for miner rewards is based on: Storage capacity, i.e. miners transfer/preload sectors into mainnet FIL, transfer sectors in the form of mortgage guarantee For Slingshot, there will be a bonus pool for all storage participants who are eligible for rewards. The size of the Slingshot bonus pool is determined by the total amount of data stored on the network. The more data we collectively store, the larger the size of the bonus pool that will be unlocked; the final prize will be distributed among all Slingshot participants in proportion to the amount of data stored by each project. Q3 : What are the specific rules of Orbital Burn? How are the rewards exceeding 4.5 million FIL distributed? A: Are you referring to the 500,000 bonus pool for storage clients? More details are in the blog post. Q4: Which sectors will be preloaded to the mainnet and what are their shares? A: The specific selection of sectors has not yet been finalized. We will confirm the entire migration process at the end of SR2. Q5: Will the Filecoin team solve the problem of large miners faking their positions in SR1 to obtain most of the rewards? A: We have discussed this several times before, you can check out our past AMAs. We do not make public comments about miners, but everyone gets exactly the same treatment, and we conduct detailed verification of each miner. Q6: What are the specific rules of Orbital Burn in the SR2 track, and what proportion of the rewards will be transferred to the main network? A: The specific selection of sectors has not yet been finalized. We will confirm the entire migration process at the end of SR2. Q7: I ran 3 small miner nodes and merged them into Space Race. Can I transfer sectors to the mainnet as a single joint miner node? A : " Miner Node Merger" is an off-chain convenience that makes it easier for nodes to get ranked and distribute rewards. If you run 3 separate miner nodes during SR1, their sectors (and corresponding power) cannot be transferred or merged into a single node, nor can they be merged for mainnet. Q8: If miners do not wish to continue mining, can they release the stake contained therein after the mainnet goes online? A: No, if you stop mining, your collateral will eventually be consumed as a sector failure fee. Encouraging collateralization is to alleviate the early collateral requirements for mainnet mining. Q9: I want to accept trade orders from Slingshot participants but I am using the tradebot filter so that I don’t get bad trades that destroy sectors? What advice do you have for this? A: During SR1, test FIL was easily available, which led to gas fee increases and subsequent DDoS attacks. The FIL adjustments made in SR1 will make sending that amount of messages more expensive (and therefore less attractive). In SR2, we recommend removing the tradebot filter for miners who wish to accept Slingshot trades. We recommend that storage clients treat test FIL as a scarce resource and treat it very carefully. Because of this, you are less likely to get bad trades from Slingshot participants. Q10: How do you calculate mining rewards? Depending on the region, a miner who uploads 1PiB can get more rewards than a miner who uploads 20PiB. A: The Space Race rewards program is designed to incentivize Filecoin's overall goal: to create a strong, decentralized, and global storage network. In some cases, this means that miners in regions with weaker mining power are rewarded for their contribution to building a balanced network. |
