IPFS Weekly Issue 111: Quick Reading of Important Events This Week

Welcome to IPFS Weekly! Interplanetary File System (IPFS) is a new hypermedia protocol that is addressed by content. IPFS supports the creation of distributed applications, and its purpose is to make the network faster, more secure, and more open. Because this project is very large, we summarize the development progress of the entire ecosystem in a weekly report. In preparation for Filecoin’s Ascension Week, some of our ecosystem leaders shared their thoughts on the motivation and growth of the Web3 ecosystem we’re building with IPFS and Filecoin. Juan Benet, founder of IPFS and Filecoin, and Andrew Hill, co-founder and CEO of Textile, both shared their thoughts on Twitter. Web3, IPFS, and Filecoin have recently been the focus of public opinion, with the argument being made for the merits of decentralization against the lopsided balance of power held by five major tech companies, written by Marvin Ammori. Our friends at Infura recently delivered support for Filecoin through the Filecoin Network API Beta, which some users can join now. The Beta allows developers to connect to the Filecoin mainnet and build Filecoin-based applications using the Infura dashboard. Connecting your application to Filecoin has never been easier!
