ETC as before: the story of everyone in the ETC community

Introduction:

In 2016, Ethereum had a hard fork. The new forked chain is ETH, and the original chain is the current ETC. Currently, the ETC Asia-Pacific community has more than 300,000 fans in China, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. In the entire ETC ecosystem, there are two major institutions, namely ETC Labs and ETC Cooperative.

On October 25, at the 2020 Blockchain Annual Ceremony and the Second BoChain Finance "Star Power" Awards Ceremony held at the Shanghai Mansion Hotel, BoChain Finance specially invited ETC Ethereum Classic Asia Pacific Chief Strategy Officer Ru Chu to give a speech entitled "The Story of ETC and Everyone in the Community".

Many people say that ETC is an old public chain, but in my eyes it is still a very young ecosystem. Simply put, ETC is programmable digital gold. From the underlying architecture, ETC and Ethereum are fully compatible and interoperable. As of now, there are more than 20,000 ETC user communities around the world.

Since I joined ETC, the most common question I have encountered is what is the difference between ETC and Ethereum? Why choose ETC instead of the now mature Ethereum? In fact, what the ETC community has been doing is "seeking common ground while reserving differences."

In the same respect, three hard forks were completed before June 2020 (Atlantis in September 2019, Agharta in January 2020, and Phoenix in June 2020), and it is fully compatible and interoperable with Ethereum at the bottom level. If it has already been built on Ethereum, the cost of deploying on ETC is very low, and the time, effort and cost spent at the bottom level are the lowest.

In terms of differences, ETC Core, the core organization in the entire ETC ecosystem, has many development achievements to help and build ETC. For example: Open-RPC: a universal blockchain development framework protocol based on JSON RPC; EVM-LLVM: capable of developing ETC smart contracts in a variety of other programming languages; Jade Suite: providing the best IDE and the lightest blockchain browser for blockchain developers, etc.

In terms of underlying technology, ETC has cooperated with projects with strong technical capabilities, including the oracle Chainlink and ChainSafe.

What has been said above cannot be considered the story of ETC. It only shows that ETC has the basic conditions to become a mainstream public chain. So how can it become a good project recognized by everyone?

As we all know, ETC is a project that originated in the United States. Many large institutions in the United States are very optimistic about ETC. The Asia-Pacific community was established in 2018. So far, we have done a lot of new things. The next thing to do is to re-divide the community into two categories: To C and To B. Among them, the To C community will continue to operate in a new way, which is the most important part of the story we want to tell next.

Currently, ETC has three main attempts in the DeFi field:

1) Platform and application aspects. Metronome can realize cross-chain asset interoperability between ETH and ETC. Coingame has realized a blockchain game platform based on ETC. ETH's MetaMask, Truffle, Raiden and other tools and services are also being integrated into the ETC ecosystem.

2) Infrastructure. Open-RPC has established a unified specification for blockchain services, Bloq Could provides the same node service interface as Infura, the Jade suite helps developers build applications on ETC simply and efficiently, and SECond State is working with the core team to develop EVM-LLVM to enable a large number of developers to develop smart contracts in programming languages ​​they are familiar with.

3) Client-side: There is support from Core-Geth and HyperLedger Besu, and there are test networks such as Modor and Kotti to verify each upgrade.

In addition, ETC also pays great attention to going beyond the circle. So far, it has carried out a lot of cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund, the World Wildlife Conservation Federation, etc. We hope that in this way, blockchain will not be limited to a small space.

After the community operation is on the official track, ETC will comprehensively recruit community ambassadors throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Community ambassadors will become a very important part of the construction of the Asia-Pacific region, enjoy a lot of rights and interests, and a lot of official information will be disclosed to ambassadors on a regular basis, carrying very important responsibilities.

Some time ago, everyone was concerned about the topic of "51% attack". Many people said that "51% attack" was a problem with the chain. In my opinion, this is not a problem with the chain, but more of an issue of economy and computing power, and more importantly, it comes from the miners. We are about to build mining facilities.

Next, we will focus more on two tasks: one is to build more applications on the chain, and the other is community building, especially in the sinking market.
