He left a strange message in the first block of Ethereum 2.0

The Ethereum 2.0 beacon chain was released last night, marking the first step in the expansion and upgrade of the world’s second-largest blockchain by market value.

Although Ethereum 2.0 is proceeding as planned, there is one surprising thing. In the first block of Ethereum 2.0, a message that no one can understand is written. This message does not pay tribute to the birth of Ethereum 2.0, nor does it point out the dilemma of bank rescue, which seems a bit strange.

Vitalik Buterin announced this on Twitter:

Ordinary people: We should put something meaningful in the first block of the Ethereum PoS chain, such as a major leap for mankind, etc. However, the Ethereum community:

The message read: "Mr. F was here."

The message is written in the block’s “graffiti” section, which allows validators to write messages, similar to the section in bitcoin blocks where miners can leave messages.

But what exactly does this message mean? Who is Mr. F?

At first, some people thought the name came from the fifth episode of season three of the hit TV series Arrested Development, in which no one knew who Mr. F was until it was revealed to be an inappropriate abbreviation.

But it turns out that Mr. F's origins are quite different.

According to a screenshot of a Discord conversation, an anonymous entity named Mr. Fahrenheit was accused of creating the first block of Ethereum 2.0. Before Ethereum 2.0 went online, he asked: "Am I block 0 or block 1?"

After discovering he had created the genesis block, Mr. Fahrenheit also asked himself what he should write, “If I were to rant about Bitcoin, would it be OK to compare it to a typewriter?”

But apparently he finally made his decision.

Mr. Fahrenheit is a decentralized application (dapp) developer who was well versed in the Ethereum ecosystem before entering the Tron blockchain. In January 2019, he was responsible for managing the Tron Shrimp team, which created a dapp called Tron Shrimp Farm on the Tron blockchain. The dapp was once popular, increasing to 31,671 users in one day, but is no longer active.
