A case of Bitcoin mining machine stealing electricity was discovered in Fusong area

This is also the first case of Bitcoin mining machine stealing electricity in Jilin Province.

On December 21, 2020, Cong Haizhao, the distribution team leader of the State Grid Fusong County Power Supply Company, found that a 10 kV line had a daily loss rate of 45% when checking the loss rate of the power supply line. Cong Haizhao immediately entered the dispatching system platform to check and verify. Data showed that the real-time load current of this 10 kV line increased by 45 amperes compared with the same period last year. Cong Haizhao realized that there might be electricity theft on the line. He immediately fed back the situation to the marketing department of the Fusong County Power Supply Company. The marketing department retrieved the electricity consumption information of all electricity users on this 10 kV line on the electricity consumption information collection system, and found that except for the high-voltage electricity user Huarong Wood Industry's meter, which had an abnormal power loss record, the electricity consumption information of other users was normal.
Preliminary analysis showed that Huarong Wood Industry might have stolen electricity. The Fusong County Power Supply Company's electricity theft inspection team immediately rushed to the scene. In the yard of Huarong Wood Industry, a row of old bungalows were found, with two transformers inside. The transformers were connected to 150 data servers, which were mining Bitcoin, and it was determined that this was the scene of electricity theft.
The electricity theft inspection team of Fusong County Power Supply Company immediately guarded the scene and called the police. After system verification and admission from the electricity thief, it was determined that the electricity theft took place between December 19 and 21.
Although the electricity theft this time was highly professional, covert and mobile, the routine multi-professional big data analysis and cable locators allowed the theft to be accurately discovered and dealt with within three days, demonstrating the role of science and technology in maintaining the order of electricity supply and use.
