Recently, Renmin Cloud Network published an article stating that the data center security network of Renmin Cloud Network uses IPFS technology. The original text is as follows:
" People's Cloud Network is a blockchain distributed storage data center network under the People's Data (National Big Data Disaster Recovery Center), a joint venture between People's Daily Online and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. People's Cloud Network aims to establish 500 smart city data centers (10 samples will be selected in the first batch) within 2-3 years, using the internationally advanced and mature IPFS technology to independently develop and connect to form People's Cloud Network .
People's Cloud Network is a data center network independently developed on the basis of IPFS, a world-leading and mature revolutionary technology of file fragmentation encryption, content addressing, distributed storage, etc., with fully shared resources. It can fundamentally solve the pain points of the data storage industry in terms of security, reliability, speed, cost, management, etc., and provide safer, more reliable, faster, and low-cost (1/3 of the average industry cost) comprehensive cloud computing storage services, which can help government, enterprises, institutions and other service objects to significantly save data storage costs . "

Why can IPFS win the favor of giants?
The HTTP protocol we are using is actually more suitable for storing small files, because moving small files is relatively cheap, but as the data generated by humans continues to increase, people are entering a new era of data distribution:

The new demands in the era of big data and the challenges faced by traditional data centers are actually new opportunities for IPFS . IPFS (Inter Planetary File System), also known as the interstellar file system, is a peer-to-peer distributed file system. IPFS provides a high-throughput content-addressed block storage model with content-addressed hyperlinks and forms a generalized Merkle DAG data structure. We can use this data structure to build version file systems, blockchains, and even permanent websites.
Simply put, IPFS and HTTP are both underlying protocols of the Internet. The biggest difference between the two is that IPFS is decentralized and has no single point of failure, while HTTP is "centralized" and centralized.
The HTTP protocol is heavily dependent on the backbone network, which poses a serious security risk. All data is stored in one place. Since the IPFS network has no central point and is decentralized, it can effectively defend against attacks such as DDoS, XSS, CSRF , and so on, thereby solving the problems of data storage and communication security, allowing people to store their data more securely .
IPFS uses peer-to-peer (P2P) technology for data transmission and download. Each node can be used as a data cache. The more nodes there are, the faster the transmission speed is. In addition, the bandwidth usage cost can be saved by nearly 60%, thereby greatly saving cloud storage costs and achieving the effect of "reducing costs and increasing efficiency" .
At the same time, the fault-tolerance mechanism in IPFS will ensure that your data is copied in sufficient quantities and stored in different regions. Even if the data in a certain area is completely destroyed due to a natural disaster, the data will be continuously available, thereby solving the reliability and disaster backup and recovery problems encountered by centralized data centers, thereby ensuring the security and permanence of data stored on IPFS .
In general, IPFS provides a new distributed storage solution in a high-growth data storage industry that is in line with the development trend of the times, benefits more people, and is accessible to everyone. Its advanced nature has profoundly influenced the data storage industry, and the use of IPFS technology by giants is the best proof of this.
Filecoin — the only incentive layer for IPFS
Filecoin is a decentralized storage network based on IPFS. It is the only incentive layer on IPFS and a token issued based on blockchain technology.
