Jamaica to pilot CBDC later this year

Jamaica plans to launch a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in 2022. Jamaican Finance Minister Nigel Clarke announced during his annual national budget speech to the national legislature on March 9 that the CBDC will be piloted in December. Last year, the Central Bank of Jamaica invited technology solution providers to develop and test CBDC solutions. |
