Chia Mining Experience (Join Mining Pool Version)

Someone asked me about how to mine chia before. Considering that many novices will try mining after the bull market comes, the main idea of ​​these novices is that they don’t want to buy it with real money, but want to use computers to mine (I had the same idea back then, and I feel the same way). Therefore, I think it is necessary to write a tutorial on mining chia, so that people who can’t afford graphics cards or high-end computers can have a chance to experience mining.

This article focuses on practical operations and will not make any comments or opinions on this project, so it will not discuss topics such as the project's technical features, project prospects, and coin prices. Please be aware of this.

1. Prepare software

If you use solo mode mining, you can use the official wallet, which is a one-stop solution for wallet generation, p-disk, and solo mining.

2. Perform P disk

First, the wallet software generates a mnemonic, and remembers the mnemonic, then starts the p disk

For the first time, you can choose the p k32 file on the P disk. Just select it as shown in the picture

Then select the storage location for temporary files and the final P disk files. It is recommended to choose an SSD solid state drive for temporary cache file storage, and an ordinary mechanical hard drive for the final P disk file. If there is no solid state drive, you can also choose a mechanical hard drive, but the efficiency of the P disk will be relatively low. The author here chooses a mobile hard drive as the P disk efficiency test.

The recommended size of the cache disk SSD is at least 500g. The Internet says that 332g is enough, but after practice, the author found that it is still prone to failure and wastes a lot of time. Therefore, it is better to make the cache disk larger than just enough.

After the P disk is started, it is best not to do other operations on the computer, and do not shut down the computer during the P disk. If you use a solid-state drive to P disk, it usually takes half a day to P a 101g plot file, and if you use a mechanical hard disk, you can P a plot file in 24 hours. If you use a mobile hard disk + USB3.0 interface like the author, it takes a day and a half to P a plot file, and the computer cannot be moved during the process.

The P disk of a computer using a graphics card for mining has no effect on the computing power of the graphics card. However, the CPU temperature will rise relatively high during the P disk process. For laptops, the CPU temperature may reach over 70 degrees. The graphics card temperature may also be raised.

During the P disk process, the resources consumed are mainly memory. Therefore, if the memory is large, the efficiency of the P disk will be improved to a certain extent. Of course, the bottleneck is still the SSD solid state drive of the cache disk, but the P disk will also reduce the life of the solid state drive. Therefore, there are also many people who use mechanical disks as cache disks and P disks.

If you are solo, you can directly mine solo after the p disk is successfully created. If not, you need to add the p disk file path

After adding the path, you can start solo mining.

If you join a mining pool, just delete the path in this picture, so that you will not be mining solo after P is completed.

After P, there is a P disk file in the target disk. This file has the fingerprint of our wallet information, and if P is done again, the content will be different, so P disk cannot be done by copying and pasting, and the only way is to run the P disk software over and over again.

In addition, it is impossible to copy the P disk file to others for use, but after we sign it, we can join the mining pool to mine.

3. Mining in mining pools

Currently, the better mining pool is hpool, which mainly operates hard disk mining projects. For example, well-known projects such as mass and AR can be mined here.

Mining in a mining pool generally requires a computing power signature. hpool has its own signature software. We can sign it and then run the mining software.

Register hpool mining pool, then log in and open the personal center, you need to configure the mining parameters

Enter 24 mnemonics separated by spaces, and after pressing Enter, the following information will appear:

The digital fingerprint behind "Fingerprint" here is the digital fingerprint on your wallet. If they don't match, it is very likely that your mnemonic phrase was entered incorrectly. At this time, you need to check whether the mnemonic phrase is correct.

The Signature at the end is the number you need to bind. Copy it and paste it directly on the mining pool settings to bind.

Binding Effect

Then configure the mining software:

Set the plot file address, set the apikey parameter (in the mining pool configuration page), save and close, and then run.

Wait for about 5 minutes and check whether mining is normal in the mining pool.

If you want to continue adding plot files later, just put the plot files in the path given in the configuration file above, and no other settings are required.

About income

Currently, a 101G plot file can mine about 0.005 coins a day, that is, a 1T plot file can mine about 0.05 coins a day. However, as more and more people use plot, it is estimated that this number will be further reduced in the future.

As for Solo, when I was solo, the wallet software prompted that a 100G plot file could mine one coin in about ten months, and this number may be further reduced in the future, so it is still beneficial to join the mining pool early.
