Protesters in El Salvador burn Bitcoin ATMs to oppose Bitcoin becoming legal tender

Although Bitcoin has become an asset favored by institutions and wealthy individuals, it still seems to have a long way to go as a currency. For example, El Salvador is vigorously promoting Bitcoin as legal tender, but the Salvadorans are not buying it.
After the breakthrough in July and August, the price of Bitcoin fell into a state of sluggish growth and has been fluctuating around $50,000. As of press time, the price of Bitcoin is $48,083.

Thousands of protesters in El Salvador demonstrated in the capital, San Salvador, on Wednesday against the adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender.
The protests were mostly peaceful, although one group broke windows and set fire to an ATM kiosk installed by the government last month to promote bitcoin.
“Making Bitcoin legal tender is a very significant economic decision, but the government’s approach is completely illogical, as the proposal was sent to Congress and passed the same day. We are going through a serious fiscal crisis, with high costs of living and unemployment, but the government’s response is to choose Bitcoin as legal tender instead of considering implementing important economic policies,” said opposition MP Claudia Ortiz.
As part of its plan to develop Bitcoin into a legal tender, El Salvador said at the end of August that it would install 200 Bitcoin ATMs in the country. Last week, the Salvadoran government announced that Bitcoin is the national legal tender. President Nayib Bukele tweeted that the government has purchased 400 Bitcoins to issue nationwide, believing that promoting Bitcoin will bring huge benefits to the country.
