El Salvador's Bitcoin Wallet Chivo Reaches 1.1 Million Users

On September 18, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele tweeted that the number of users of the country’s Bitcoin wallet Chivo has exceeded 1.1 million, but it is currently not compatible with 65% of mobile phone models.

He said that at this pace, the country, which has a population of 6.5 million, 70 percent of whom do not have bank accounts, could achieve financial inclusion within a month, something that the traditional state-owned and private banking systems have eluded it for 40 years.
