Ethereum mining revenue exceeds Bitcoin for the seventh consecutive month, Vitalik Buterin releases his vision for a reasonable roadmap for ETH 2.0

According to data from The Block Research, Ethereum mining revenue exceeded Bitcoin for the seventh consecutive month in November. Last month, Bitcoin miners earned $1.69 billion, down 2% from the previous month. In contrast, Ethereum miners earned $1.99 billion, up 11.8% from October, and their overall revenue in November was 1.18 times that of Bitcoin miners.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a blog post titled "Endgame" on Monday, outlining his vision for a "reasonable roadmap" for ETH 2.0, in which he outlined a scenario where large smart contract platforms can improve their scalability while meeting high standards for trustlessness and censorship resistance. Regarding the solution, Buterin suggested adding a second layer of staking with low resource requirements for distributed block verification; introducing fraud proofs or ZK-SNARKS to let users check block validity directly (and cheaply); introducing data availability sampling to let users check block availability and add secondary transaction channels for censorship resistance. Buterin said that even if the second layer solution "rollups" is deployed, block production will remain centralized, but block verification is trustless and highly decentralized, and specialized anti-censorship mechanisms prevent block producers from censoring. V God believes that no matter what scalability path the network takes, block production is very likely to be centralized. The benefit of Ethereum's rollups-centric roadmap is that it is open to all futures.
