Lifeline: This is the name given in Western palmistry, and is called the earth line in Chinese palmistry. It is one of the three main lines on the human palm, starting from the midpoint of the base line of the index finger and the base line of the thumb (the dividing line between the Zhen position and the Xun position), wrapping around the entire thenar eminence, extending in an arc-shaped parabola to the transverse wrist line and surrounding the ball of the thumb. The best lifeline is one that wraps deeply around the ball of the thumb to the bottom.
