How many beads are usually in a Buddhist bracelet?

The Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha can all be included in a string of Buddhist beads. Therefore, you should treat the Buddhist beads with respect, as if you were treating a holy face, and purify your body and mind. Because Buddhism emphasizes: sincerity, concentration, diligence, and generosity. If you are not arrogant towards people and things, and work hard without being distracted, you will gain the respect and help of others, and the same is true for success in life.

How many beads are usually in a Buddhist bracelet? What is the best number of beads for a Buddhist bracelet? (1) There is no exact meaning for 36 or 18 beads. It is usually believed that it is for ease of carrying, so the 108 beads are divided into 36. This contains the meaning of seeing the big from the small, so it is the opposite of 108 beads. As for the other Buddhist beads with 36, 18, etc., some are for convenience of carrying, which is only one-third or one-sixth of the number of 108; some of them represent the thirty-six celestial beings or eighteen kinds of magical powers of heretics, with no other meaning. Suitable for everyone to wear.
Commonly known as the Eighteen Sons, the so-called eighteen here refers to the eighteen realms, namely six roots, six dusts, and six consciousnesses.
Six sense organs: 1. the realm of sight, 2. the realm of hearing, 3. the realm of nose, 4. the realm of tongue, 5. the realm of body, 6. the realm of mind;
Six dusts: 1. form dust, 2. sound dust, 3. smell dust, 4. taste dust, 5. touch dust, 6. dharma dust;
Six consciousnesses: 1. Eye consciousness, 2. Ear consciousness, 3. Nose consciousness, 4. Tongue consciousness, 5. Body consciousness, 6. Cognition.
(2) According to the Tiantai school, 1,080 beads in a Buddhist rosary represent that each of the ten realms has 108 kinds of afflictions, which can be broken down into 1,080 kinds of afflictions. The ten realms represent the entire world of delusion and enlightenment, namely: 1. the heaven realm, 2. the hungry ghost realm, 3. the animal realm, 4. the Asura realm, 5. the human world, 6. the heavenly realm, 7. the voice-hearer realm, 8. the pratyekabuddha realm, 9. the bodhisattva realm, and 10. the Buddha realm. According to the records in Tibetan Buddhist scriptures, the best quality Buddhist beads have 1080 beads. Because this kind of Buddhist beads are too long, they are only used by a very small number of great monks and silent practitioners, or by famous monks as decorations in grand Dharma assemblies. Apart from this, very few people use them.
(3) Composition of 108-bead bracelet
The composition of the 108-bead Buddhist bracelet is mainly separated by beads of other colors or sizes according to regularity: at 7, 21, 54, 67, and 101 respectively. Every part of the Buddhist beads has a special meaning. For example, the mother bead (Buddha head) represents the Buddha treasure; the rope that makes up the entire Buddhist beads bracelet represents the Dharma treasure; and the smallest bead represents the monk treasure. It is the most rare number, which represents the pursuit of the 108 samadhis and the elimination of 108 kinds of troubles, so that the body and mind can reach a state of tranquility. There are many different ways to explain the content of the 108 kinds of regrets. Generally speaking, the six senses each have three kinds of feelings: suffering, happiness, and indifference, which make a total of eighteen kinds. Also, the six senses each have three kinds of feelings: good, bad, and neutral, which make a total of eighteen kinds, thirty-six kinds in total. When combined with the three lives in the past, present, and future, there are a total of 108 kinds of regrets.
The best quality Buddhist beads have 108 beads (110 beads for Tantric practitioners), which is to represent the pursuit of the 108 samadhis and the elimination of 108 kinds of troubles, so that the body and mind can reach a state of tranquility. There are many different opinions about the content of the 108 afflictions. Generally speaking, the six senses each have three feelings of suffering, happiness, and indifference, which make a total of eighteen kinds; and the six senses each have three kinds of good, evil, and neutral, which make a total of eighteen kinds, thirty-six kinds in total. Combined with the past, present, and future three lives, there are a total of 108 kinds of afflictions.
As the Scripture says:
The Bodhisattvas asked: What are the one hundred and eight? The Buddha said: When you have something in your mind, but you are not aware that there are yin and accumulation in the mind when it arises and ceases, you are ignorant. When you turn to the mind state, it is the same. It is also the same when you turn to consciousness. This is the third of the mind. When seeing pleasant colors, neutral colors, or unpleasant colors, one does not realize that one is attached to them or that one is extinguished. There are elements and accumulations, and the same is true of touch. That sutra only lists six sense organs, each with six. Although there is no mention of the three periods of time, it does say one hundred and eight. Therefore, we know that it is based on an instant and is divided into three periods of time. Since the three cognitions of the mind are the three realms of intention, they are common to the three periods of time, such as the gathering of clouds to be named the mind, the calculation of the mind to be named the intention, and the distinction of the mind to be named the knowledge. Since the three minds are like this, the five roots on which they depend should also be like this. There are thirty-six in three periods of time, so there are one hundred and eight.
