Buddha said: People have six senses: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. The functions of tongue consciousness are, first, speaking, expressing and communicating; second, it is used to distinguish tastes.

Since ancient times, there has been a saying that diseases come from the mouth, which means that people who like to eat and drink indiscriminately will cause a lot of diseases; especially modern people, most of the diseases in their lives are related to this, all due to excessive intake, such as obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, coronary heart disease and so on. There is also a saying that trouble comes from the mouth. As the saying goes: All the prisoners have lost their heads. You see, it’s so powerful. If your mouth can kill you, it can also kill others. Some people become short-sighted just because someone else says something inappropriate.

Therefore, the ancients warned us that the way to cultivate oneself is to first shut up. If you don’t shut up, there is no use in cultivating yourself. Shut up and trim your tongue. Generally speaking, those who like to talk, including making statements based on numbers, and those who like to eat and drink to their heart's content, have no affinity with saints, Buddhas, or Taoism. It is no wonder that Confucius and Buddha never wrote anything in their lifetime; what were passed down to later generations were the records of their disciples. Kumarajiva was afraid that the works he translated would not fully reflect the Buddha's intentions, so he vowed that his tongue would not die.

From the perspective of physiognomy, a person's tongue shape has different characteristics and personalities; they are as follows:

People with long and thick tongues are usually cautious in words and deeds and have noble character.

People with long and pointed tongues tend to covet other people's property.

People with short and thick tongues are often unable to accomplish anything, but are more likely to fail.

People with long and thin tongues have many desires but lack the ability to act.

People with short and pointed tongues are usually greedy.

People with strong and upright tongues usually have a successful career in government.

People with black tongues are usually evil-minded and sinister.

A bright red tongue is likely to attract wealth.

If the tongue is white or gray, one will be poor and miserable all his life.

People with black spots on their tongues are prone to tell lies.

If the tongue is big and the mouth is small, then the person will be efficient in doing things, but his fate will be difficult.

If a person has a small tongue and a big mouth, he lacks the ability to express himself. Some people say that he is born dull.

From the above summary, we can see that the thickness, thickness, length and color of the tongue have a great influence on personality. Most of them are beautiful when they are thick and rosy, not too long or too short, and have appropriate size and mouth configuration.

1. People with long and narrow tongue

Because the tongue is long, people talk a lot and like to express themselves; if it is narrow, the mouth will be empty. Therefore, people with this kind of tongue shape will often only talk unrealistically and exaggerately, but in fact they have no real talent or knowledge. Therefore, even if such people are eloquent, it is difficult for them to win the trust of others. When we meet such people who always talk incessantly, we must be careful to distinguish them and not have close contacts with them, so as not to be implicated by them or be deceived.

2. People with long and thin tongue

As mentioned before, if the tongue is long, the person likes to talk and express himself. If it is square and thick, it is of course a good sign and represents a gentleman. If it is just thin, it means that the person is intelligent, eloquent, and very persuasive. He is a rare orator and is suitable for careers such as negotiation, hosting, or diplomacy. Their disadvantage is that they like to gossip, spread rumors, damage other people's reputation, and cause great psychological harm to people. Men are regarded as sophistry and women are regarded as gossipers and are despised by others.

Therefore, if you meet this kind of people in life, you must be careful, because they are too talkative and you must be careful not to be deceived. Unlike people with a long and pointed tongue, because of its sharpness, they speak sharply and easily offend people. You are naturally annoying, so it is easy to identify you. Instead, it makes you more alert and the chance of being deceived is lower.
