Physiognomy has a very long history in ancient China, and much evidence can be found in the voluminous historical documents.

"Zuo Zhuan." The first year of Duke Wen recorded:

"In the spring of the first year, the king sent the internal historian Shufu to attend the funeral. Gongsun Ao heard that he could tell people's faces, so he asked his two sons to come out to see him. Shufu said: 'Gu is a feeder, and Nan is a collector. Gu has a full chin, so he will surely have descendants in Lu.' This passage means that in the spring of the first year, the Zhou emperor sent the internal historian Shufu to attend the funeral. Gongsun Ao heard that he could tell people's faces, so he asked his sons to come out to see him. Shufu said: 'Gu, the son, can offer sacrifices and support you, and Nan, the son, can bury you. Gu has a full chin, so his descendants will surely prosper in Lu.'

Article 1 General Provisions

1.1 First look at the eight grids, then the three courtyards. The eyes are five horizontally spaced, and the mouth is about three evenly spaced.

If the head is small and the hair is long, the person is stubborn, and the hair is long and the forehead is narrow. The life is not long. If the hair reaches the ears, the person is poor and stubborn, and the hair is curly like a snail ribbon, which is harmful."

2.3 The hair should be soft, black and sparse. If the hair is soft and silky, the couple will be harmonious; if the hair is thin and fine, the person will be famous and wealthy; if the hair is sparse and moist, the person will be intelligent. If you have delicate features, you will have a good chance of success.

2.4 Avoid having yellow, coarse or hard hair. According to physiognomy, if the hair is coarse and hard, the couple will not be harmonious and the man and woman will be incompatible; if the hair is yellow and dry, the person will be poor; if the hair is thick when the child is crying, the child will be naughty; if the hair is low, the luck will be bad; if the hair falls out early, there will be financial loss; if the hair is curly, there may be injuries; if the hair is thick like hemp, the person will be poor and suffer many hardships; if the hair is long and the forehead is narrow, the life will not be long.

3.1 “The forehead is full and the chin is square and round”. The forehead refers to the upper forehead, and the chin refers to the lower forehead. The ancients believed that a person's face was divided into three parts: the upper part was the sky, the middle part was the person, and the lower part was the earth. Man, heaven, and earth each have their own symbols. The heaven part (forehead) mainly represents early luck and the abundance of heaven's gift.

4.1 First look at the thickness, second look at the clarity, third look at the eyebrow shape.

4.2 Eyebrows should be long, thin, clear and curved. A long one means longevity, a beautiful one means fortune and luck, a clear one means intelligence, and a curved one means cleanliness. According to physiognomy, the following eyebrow shapes are mostly good:

4.3 Eyebrows should not be short, scattered or messy. If it is short, it means poverty; if it is scattered, it means loneliness; if it is mixed, it means vulgarity. Physiognomy believes that the following eyebrow shapes are not good: eyebrows shorter than eyes indicate a solitary temperament; high brow ridges indicate many hardships; sparse, thick and low eyebrows indicate a life of poverty and loneliness; interrupted eyebrows indicate separation of brothers; reverse eyebrows indicate discord between brothers; unkind eyebrows indicate loneliness and financial failure; eyebrows that meet at any age indicate a short life; and eyebrows that are short and insufficient indicate drifting and loneliness.

4.4 Example:

Dragon Eyebrows: The curved, thick and beautiful eyebrows are called dragon eyebrows, which are outstanding and known throughout the world. Having many brothers means you will be noble, and your parents will live a long and prosperous life. People with this brow have rich family background, many siblings, and far-reaching reputation.
Willow Leaf Eyebrows: The eyebrows are thick like leaves, but clear inside. The relationship between family members is distant and the child will be born late. There are many righteous people among our faithful friends and loyal ministers, and they will eventually become successful and spread their reputations. The eyebrows are leaf-shaped, and fame will come early, but there will be discord among brothers.
S-shaped eyebrows: S-shaped eyebrows indicate misfortune, and pressure on the chin will lead to the death of several wives. I have lived a mediocre life and have enough money, but I am afraid that I will end up crying to my parents when I have children. Turn your left and right eyebrows downward. Born with a tough life, he will harm his wife and have children.
Arhat eyebrows: Eyebrows as big as those of an arhat are not suitable, as the wife will suffer late. Brothers are injured and it is difficult to help, and in old age one son will follow him with a stick. This is a sign that your wife and brothers will be in trouble, and you will have a child in your old age.

5.1 "Ma Yi's Face Reading" says: "The eyes should be clear like the sun and the moon, and the phoenix eyes and dragon eyes should be clear. The most feared are yellow eyes with red veins, which will cause harm throughout life and accomplish nothing. Large and floating goat eyes will definitely bring bad luck, and the person will be lonely and penniless. Thin and deep eyes tend to be without confidants, and people with such eyes should not be met." This means that eyes should be clear and bright. Yellow and red, protruding goat eyes, thin and deep eyes and squinting eyes are all bad eye shapes. People with yellow and red eyes have a short life; people with protruding eyes are prone to bankruptcy; people with thin and deep eyes are cold and suspicious; people with squinting eyes are cunning in men and lustful in women, and these two types of people should not be associated with.

Upturned eyes bring endless fortune and luck. Big and bright eyes mean a good harvest. Short eyes and long eyebrows mean abundant harvests. A gaze as sharp as lightning is beyond words. The eyes are like a tiger's, sacred and cannot be offended. Anyone who can distinguish right from wrong must be intelligent. The eyes are black and the eye sockets are wide, the spirit is lively and knowledgeable.

5.3 The eyes should be long and delicate. People with this kind of eyes will have a bright career and hold high positions and receive generous salaries. The eyes should be bright and clear. People with such eyes are intelligent, honest and kind. People with stern and authoritative eyes are relied on by everyone and their authority is inviolable.

5.4 Unkind eyes are as follows: A broken eye will lead to the depletion of wealth. The battlefield is unpredictable. People with eyes like chicken's are impatient and cruel. A bad person who is shaped like a triangle. A person with eyes like a lying bow must be a treacherous man. People with deep eye sockets are cunning and jealous. The red eyes and golden pupils do not recognize any relatives. The eyes are narrow, deep and stubborn.

5.5 People with strange and cunning eyes are definitely treacherous; people with narrow and deep eyes have stubborn tempers and evil natures; people with red eyes are anxious and ruthless.
