How to tell if a demon is a demon?

Legend has it that there was a period of the Dharma Ending Age, and this term often appears in novels. At that time, evil spirits were as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, and so many people were in a daze and had no idea where they were. We are not afraid that you will not be able to understand it for a hundred years, but we are afraid that you will take the wrong path and enter the evil path one day. Evil spirits are deceptive, so how can we identify them? Check out this issue of the physiognomy column. The first kind of demon of the mind-consciousness: A strange ghost who becomes a demon when he gets old. There is a kind of person who, in samadhi, loves peace and brightness in his mind and is greedy for cleverness. This kind of person will attract the first kind of demon of the mind-consciousness. What are the characteristics of this demon? At this time, the devil will possess a certain person and preach the Dharma. The person who is possessed has no idea that he is possessed and believes that he has attained supreme nirvana. The possessed person will go to the first person who seeks skillful means and preach the Dharma to him. Judging from the appearance of this possessed person, he is very capable of deceiving people. He may appear as a monk, or as Indra, or as a woman, or as a nun, or he may emit light in a dark room. People who don’t understand will think, “Oh, this person can emit light, so he must be a Buddha or Bodhisattva, or at least an Arhat.” Those who are greedy for cleverness are thus deceived and listen to the teachings of the possessed person. What is the content of the teaching? The following is the key point. No matter it is bright or not, if someone says the following to you, you should stay away from them: 1. Breaking the Buddhist precepts. Lust lurks. If this person does not observe the Buddhist precepts and slanders the Buddhist precepts, there is a problem. If this person cheats people for money or sex, there is something wrong with him. 2. Speak kindly. Disasters and auspicious signs change. Some say it is a calamity fire. Or talk about weapons. Terrifying to people. Make his family property. Dissipated for no reason. People who like to talk about disasters in an attempt to scare you, ask you to give them your wealth to do charity, etc., causing your wealth to be wasted for no reason, are problematic. 3. Or say Tathagata. Born somewhere. This is ridiculously fake. We all know that it will take a long time for the next Maitreya Buddha to come to the world. This scam is quite low-level. What is the first demon called? It is called a strange ghost, and it is an old ghost who has practiced for many years and turned into a demon when he got old. Let’s summarize: Characteristics of strange ghosts: not observing the precepts, cheating for money and sex, likes to talk about disasters, likes to say that Tathagata has been born again. Skills of strange ghosts: can shine in a dark room. Objects deceived by strange ghosts: people who are greedy for tricks. Consequences of being deceived: if the deceived person cannot wake up, he will fall into the hell of endless suffering in the future. How to avoid being deceived by strange ghosts? 1. Do not be greedy for skillful means, do not be greedy for supernatural powers, let it be, if it is available, it is available, if it is not available, it is not available, do not be craving for this convenience and supernatural powers all day long; 2. When dealing with outside masters, if they slander the precepts, are greedy for money and sex, say that the Buddha has been reborn, exaggerate disasters, and ask you to donate a large amount of money, you should leave immediately. The second kind of demon is the ghost who wants to be evil: the ghost who becomes a demon when he gets old. There is another kind of person who is in meditation, but he loves to wander and is greedy for experience. This kind of person will attract the second kind of evil spirit: the Ba ghost. What does it mean to be greedy for experience? It means that some people like to go around and play around in their state of concentration. It doesn’t cost any money anyway, so why not try it? As a result, this playfulness caused problems. This Ba ghost will possess someone and look for someone who likes to play. This time, the spirit itself did not change in various ways and did not emit light. What is the situation? The spirit was possessed and preaching the Dharma. The people who were listening to the Dharma found themselves sitting on a lotus, emitting purple-gold light. It was not just them that felt this way, but all the people who were listening to the Dharma felt the same way. When these foolish people saw this, they thought, "Oh my God, this must be a Buddha or Bodhisattva! He can make me sit on the lotus and emit purple-gold light." So, just listen to the words of the possessed person. After the possessed spirit showed off a few tricks and convinced these people, its true colors were revealed. Actually, it's nothing new. It has some common features with the first type of ghost: 1. Breaking the Buddhist precepts. Lust lurks. 2. Like to say that someone somewhere is the incarnation of a certain Buddha, and someone else is the incarnation of a certain Bodhisattva. In fact, after reading the Shurangama Sutra, you will feel that these demons are actually quite pitiful, and they only use the same few tricks to come and go. 1. Flies don't bite seamless eggs, and demons don't bother walkers without loopholes. 2. Depending on your different vulnerabilities, there are different demons that will destroy you in different ways. 3. The initial stage of destruction is to use some magical means to impress you and make you completely believe in him. 4. After you completely trust him, he will break the Buddhist precepts and become greedy for money and sex. 5. Usually like to say some weird things. There's another big disaster somewhere, who is the incarnation of which Buddha, etc. If you believe what he says, you will go to hell in the future.
