What kind of moles can't be removed?

It is said: "If there are hairs on a mole, it is like there are plants and trees on a mountain. This is the so-called wonderful mole. People with such a mole are wealthy and well-educated." Is this really true? There are many kinds of moles, some of which are good and some are bad, so what kind of moles cannot be removed? Let’s take a closer look at the mole!

(1) Junctional nevus: located at the junction of the epidermis and dermis. It is often seen on the palms, soles, lips and external genitalia. The surface is flat or slightly elevated, ranging in size from 1 to 2 mm, and is light brown, brown-black or blue-black. It may become cancerous and may develop into melanoma.

(2) Intradermal nevus: exists in the dermis. The surface is smooth and the boundaries are clear. Larger than 1 mm, growing in flakes, flat or slightly raised. The color is dark and uniform, light brown, dark brown or ink black. Generally, cancer does not occur.

(3) Mixed nevus: It is a mixture of the above two types. It is generally like an intradermal nevus. Because it contains the components of a junctional nevus, it can also become cancerous.

(4) Blue nevus: It is called blue nevus because it appears blue due to the reflection of light from the collagen beams on the surface of the pigment cells. It is less common and usually occurs in childhood. It often occurs on the arms, backs of hands, and backs of feet. Most are benign, but occasionally they can become cancerous.

Although moles can become cancerous, the incidence rate is very low, so we cannot remove all moles. To prevent problems before they occur, experts recommend that people over 40 should perform a self-examination once a month: take off all clothes, hold a small mirror in front of a full-length mirror, and check for moles on the skin all over the body, especially whether there are any new moles.

The characteristics of melanoma are: irregular edges, irregular twists and turns; not all black, but mottled and intertwined; usually it cannot be divided into two symmetrical parts by a straight line; it is very small at first and not easy to detect, but grows progressively, and when it grows to the size of the eraser head on a pencil, it is clearly visible at a glance.

A normal mole has neat edges and is uniformly black or dark brown, and can be easily divided into two symmetrical parts by a straight line. If melanoma is detected early, it can be completely removed under local anesthesia without any worries.
