Following Stanford University’s announcement that it will soon offer a digital currency course, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab has announced that it will offer its own course to inspire the next generation of Bitcoin talent. MIT will join other universities in bringing bitcoin to their classrooms, thanks to a new entrepreneurial partnership between the Digital Currency Initiative (DCI) and the Media Lab. The course will be open to all MIT students and cross-registered students in the Boston area next semester. David Shrier, a lecturer at the Media Lab and one of the people who is driving the plan, said the course will study topics ranging from e-commerce to market systems. He also added:
The course will be led by renowned computer scientist Alex 'Sandy' Pentland and Digital Currency Initiative Director Brian Forde. The MIT Media Lab, which also supports several Bitcoin Core developers, will also offer a “high-level technical” course around blockchain, Shrier said. ---- |
