Symbiont: The future of private equity markets based on blockchain

Blockchain technology has gained widespread attention in the financial world. This decentralized public ledger may change the way the industry records or processes transactions. Some banks around the world are working hard to explore the use of blockchain technology in their internal operations, and some visionary companies, such as Overstock, have been trying to use Bitcoin-related technology for securities clearing.

For Symbiont, a blockchain private securities company, blockchain technology can reshape the future of Wall Street through "smart securities" or "smart contracts."

Blockchain technology and smart securities

According to Symbiont CEO Mark Smith, the company plans to focus on the private equity market, explaining that many startups are shying away from public offerings and that a robust private securities market could be the future of finance.

"If you look at companies like Uber, which have completed their K or N rounds of financing, the temptation to go public is no longer as strong as it used to be," Smith pointed out. "In fact, it can be transferred to other securities. For example, we can prove that you issued a bond on the Bitcoin blockchain, and then you can do it on a manageable general ledger system."

In addition to private equity, Smith also sees potential in the corporate bond market. He also said blockchain technology will have a future in the syndicated loan market, where lenders can group together to provide funds to borrowers, thereby spreading the risk of default.

Adam Krellenstein, CTO of Symbiont, explained:

“We have a smart securities system that is built on top of Bitcoin that encodes the execution data and the announcement data in the trade and then publishes it to the blockchain, so all the data is on the Bitcoin blockchain.”
