Amin was accused of helping a friend who wanted to join ISIS travel to Syria and posting about the event on Twitter.

The incident attracted more than 4,000 followers on Twitter. Amin's friend was also arrested and charged for supporting terrorism.

Social media has become an important channel used by ISIS to support current members, recruit future members, and spread information. The U.S. government has been increasing its monitoring of this information to prevent domestic terrorism and foreign ISIS members from directing and supporting terrorist groups through these channels.

In recent months, the U.S. Department of Justice has stepped up law enforcement efforts to severely punish such groups in order to prevent the growth of domestic terrorist organizations in the United States.
