MercadoPago is integrating Bitcoin payments

The price of Bitcoin continued to move sideways in the Asian session on Wednesday (September 30). After soaring at the beginning of the week, it seemed to have fallen into disorder again.

The quotes released by BITSTAMP show that Bitcoin/US dollar (XBT/USD) fluctuated sharply in the 236-240 range yesterday. Trading in the Asian session of this trading day narrowed to the 236.50-238.00 area, but the volatile sideways trend is still very obvious.

According to the quotes published by KRAKEN, Bitcoin/Euro (XBT/EUR) fluctuated in the 210.50-213 range yesterday, and moved down to the 210-211.50 range in the Asian session of this trading day. Unlike the US dollar-denominated Bitcoin price, the euro-denominated Bitcoin price has a slight downward trend.

The quotes released by Huobi.com show that Bitcoin/RMB surged to around 1576 yesterday and then continued to fall back to around 1528.40. Similar to Bitcoin denominated in other currencies, it also fell into a volatile sideways market on this trading day and is currently trading around 1540.30.

In the industry, MercadoLibre announced that its payment platform MercadoPago is integrating Bitcoin payments. As an e-commerce giant, MercadoLibre is known as the Latin American version of eBay.

The company said in an email to users that it will enable Bitcoin payments in order to provide customers with more payment options.

MercadoLibre serves customers in 13 countries, but it is unclear in which countries the bitcoin payment service will be launched or when.

It is reported that this integration will be quite clever. Merchants can only know from transaction records whether customers have used digital currency, but cannot know whether it is Bitcoin or other digital currencies.
