Greek computer virus spreads, Bitcoin payment required to unlock files

     China News Service, October 15th. According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, recently, the Greek Police Cyber ​​Crime Department reported that a malicious software is spreading in Greece, which requires users to pay digital currency, namely Bitcoin, to unlock files.

     It is reported that the malware Crypto-Wall belongs to the crypto-malware series and is a development product of the famous malware Cryptolocker, which can damage ordinary users and corporate network computers.

     The cybercrime unit said the software, which affects the work of all versions of the operating system, is mainly spread via email, but can also be spread through suspicious web pages that appear as regular software updates.

     According to Greek police sources: "The situation has worsened in recent days, with hundreds of messages received about corporate networks being 'infected' with the virus."

     According to police experts, the malware intercepts all digital files and data of various types through a complex encryption system. The owner of the device needs to pay a certain fee to unlock it, otherwise the user will not be able to access the files.

     Experts point out that the software can be removed, but since the files are highly encrypted, there is currently no known way to decrypt them. Payment is done using Bitcoin via an anonymous browser.
