Canadian blockchain startup BTL goes public on TSX Venture Exchange

According to foreign media reports, Canadian blockchain startup "Blockchain Technology Co., Ltd."   Blockchain Tech Ltd   BTL) has been successfully listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange Venture Exchange (TSXV) with the stock code BTL (TSXV: BTL).

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s venture capital arm has raised $1.5 million in new funding, with investments in blockchain technology and its core software as part of its plan to use the funds.

By improving its technology, BTL aims to become a key player in the “international FinTech movement” and support financial institutions and banks in using blockchain technology as a bridge to connect conventional payment systems with a new generation of transaction settlement networks.

CEO of BTL  加伊•哈尔福德•汤普森said:

“BTL’s listing is a significant day. We are honored to be the first blockchain technology company to be listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. This is an extraordinary achievement. More importantly, we believe this further proves our vision for blockchain technology, enabling us to fully leverage the charm of blockchain technology and connect businesses around the world.”

Following the announcement of the listing, BTL also launched a blockchain-based remittance platform “Interbit”, which allows users to send international remittances with lower transaction costs and lower exchange fees.

The company is targeting the multi-billion dollar remittance industry, including the UK and Canadian markets, which processed more than $23 billion in remittances in 2011 alone. By using the Interbit platform, users in the UK and Canada will be able to send money to multiple regions, including South America, Southeast Asia and Africa.

The BTL team said:

“As an active leader in this industry, BTL will further solidify its position as a key organization driving growth in the blockchain market. In addition, the company is also exploring other leading blockchain technologies.”

As the first blockchain technology company to be officially listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange Venture Exchange, it is also the first digital currency-related company to go public since payment processor Vogogo went public in September 2014. In addition, there is British blockchain investment company Coinsilium, which announced in July that it would be listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.
