Dash buys Dash.org domain name for $20,000 to expand market influence

Three members of the Dash team recently purchased the dash.org web domain for just over $20,000. Dash is a privacy-focused digital currency.

Dash.org itself is an excellent domain name, consistent with the project name "Dash", which will help users find our website and also help improve SEO rankings. The Dash team said that obtaining this domain name will help further expand the influence of Dash.

The Dash.org domain was negotiated by “Triptolemoose” – an anonymous Dash community member – and funded by three core team members: Lead Developer埃文•杜菲尔德, Head of Business Development Daniel Diaz, and Head of Project Management Robert Wiecko.

Duffield briefly described the purchasing process:

The three of us voluntarily contributed funds to complete the purchase of the domain name at a total price of $20,329.99. Special thanks to Daniel (Minotaur) and Robert (kot) for their financial support. The initial offer from the seller was $30,000.00, which made it very difficult to negotiate a reasonable price. The negotiation process took two months and was mainly led by Triptolemoose. The purchase negotiation process was not made public because it would bring greater resistance to the negotiation process, so we could only purchase it privately, and raise funds through the budget system after the domain name transfer is completed.

The three investors will send a request to the decentralized Dash budget system. It is expected that with a price of $2.42 and a budget of 2,100 Dash per month, the re-funding process will be completed in 4 months.

Duffield added:

We will use as little budget space as possible in multiple installments and return the funds to investors within a reasonable time.

Dash, previously known as Darkcoin, is improving Bitcoin through perfectly anonymous transactions and high-speed payments. With the help of a decentralized masternode network, Dash has achieved remarkable results in terms of anonymity while avoiding the negative consequences of users having to trust a third party.

According to CoinMarketCap statistics, Dash currently ranks fifth in the virtual currency market capitalization ranking with $13.7 million. On June 2, 2015, its market capitalization reached a peak of $53.6 million.
