Airbitz integrates Fold app to offer 20% off Starbucks gift cards with Bitcoin

Airbitz, a mobile wallet app that accepts Bitcoin, has announced a partnership with Fold to launch a Starbucks campaign across the U.S., offering a 20% discount on Starbucks gift cards to users who pay with Bitcoin.

Airbitz sees saving money as a good way to encourage people to use bitcoin, and says the discounts will be available at other retailers, including Target and Whole Foods.

Matt Luongo, founder of Fold, said:

"We have been looking to work with Walmart, CVS and Home Depot. The top 30 retailers in the United States are our targets."

Paul Puey, CEO of Airbitz, wrote in a blog post:

“We’re excited to announce that we’ve integrated the Fold app into our app! You can now use the app to buy Starbucks and Target gift cards, as well as buy and sell Bitcoin through Glidera.

We think this opens new doors for new Bitcoiners and gives regular consumers a reason to use Bitcoin. For avid Bitcoin users, many have already enjoyed the great deals on Starbucks gift cards through Fold, where you can get 20% off on their website using Bitcoin.

While the Fold app experience is already very simple, we've made it even easier. If you need to buy a gift card with Bitcoin, you can use our buy/sell feature to connect to your bank account and make the purchase directly. It can take a few days for your wallet to be credited. However, if you already have Bitcoin, the process is even easier.

It is reported that the US Starbucks gift cards purchased through the Fold app can be used in areas other than the United States, including Canada, Mexico, Australia, Ireland, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Macau and Spain.
