The insurance asset management industry should focus on blockchain technology

     The Global Shared Finance 100 Forum announced the establishment of the " China Blockchain Research Alliance" in Beijing today. Cao Deyun , member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Dalian Regulatory Bureau of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission and executive vice president of the China Insurance Asset Management Association, said in his speech that the insurance asset management industry should also focus on blockchain technology in the next step.

Cao Deyun: I am very happy to attend the founding ceremony of this alliance. What we are discussing here today is a brand-new technology. The China Blockchain Research Alliance we are talking about today is also a brand-new organization. How far can we go in action depends on how far our thoughts go. However, any idea requires pioneers to continuously explore. The experts just now are all pioneers in the field of blockchain technology research in China.

I first heard of this concept from some speeches by Mr. Xiao Feng. I remember that during the preparation of this forum in 2014, when Internet finance was the most talked about, we invited Mr. Xiao to give a speech on insurance asset management and the Internet to our industry, and the response was very enthusiastic. Last year in 2015, we invited Mr. Xiao to host an internal roundtable forum, also on the Internet and insurance asset management. I think everyone still believed that the organic combination of the Internet and management could enhance the value of the industry. I think that with the introduction of the concept or view of blockchain, the insurance asset management industry should also focus on this technology in the next step.

Today we have established the China Blockchain Research Alliance, which will push our research on blockchain to a higher level in China. The main purpose is to promote its gradual implementation in the entire financial system or in the entire asset management field. I hope that this alliance will play its role as a pioneer in thought in the future, and promote the practice of blockchain technology in China by producing more, faster and better results. I think this will be the main goal of our alliance.

As one of the initiators, I also hope that we can all work together; as for the Asset Management Association, I also hope to make our contribution. I also firmly believe that with everyone's joint efforts, this goal will definitely be achieved. Thank you!
