BTC-e, a world-renowned Bitcoin exchange, claims to have been attacked by DDoS

According to CoinDesk on January 8 , BTC-e, a well-known European bitcoin trading platform, announced on its website a few hours after it stopped service that it had been attacked by a distributed denial of service ( DDoS ) attack.

As of press time, the site's issues have not been resolved, but the platform is still working on resolving the issue.

Posts posted by users on social media indicate that BTC-e has been unable to trade for more than four hours. The exchange claimed that it was attacked, so it suspended trading. The suspension of trading has raised concerns about the security of the platform.

During the period of suspension of trading, the price of Bitcoin in the US dollar market and the Bitcoin market soared. The 24- hour trading volume of BTC-e was 10,019 Bitcoins.

Representatives for BTC-E did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
