Blockchain investment firm Coinsilium invests $100,000 in smart contract platform Rootstock

Blockchain investment firm Coinsilium has announced a $100,000 investment in RSK Labs Ltd (“RSK”), the developer of the smart contract platform Rootstock. Coinsilium listed on London’s ISDX Growth Market late last year under the ticker “COIN”.

Coinsilium said its investment accounted for 28.6% of the total initial seed funding for RSK, which is currently valued at $5 million.

卡梅隆•帕里, Executive Chairman of Coinsilium, said:

We are pleased to announce that Coinsilium has acquired an early strategic stake in Rootstock, a platform that provides strong support and security for Bitcoin through Ethereum’s smart contract technology.

Rootstock is a peer-to-peer smart contract platform designed as a sidechain of the Bitcoin blockchain. The platform is seen as a future platform that combines Ethereum-based smart contract technology with the transparent settlement system of the Bitcoin blockchain.

Smart contract expert Nick Szabo has also publicly supported the project, saying it combines the advantages of both Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Sergio Demián塞尔吉•奥德米安•勒纳, co-founder and chief scientist at Rootstock, welcomed Coinsilium’s arrival, saying:

We designed Rootstock to add value to the Bitcoin network through smart contract technology, making complex transactions as secure as those on the Bitcoin network.

Lerner is one of the early evangelists of Bitcoin and was appointed as a core security auditor by the Bitcoin Foundation in late 2014. At the time, he worked as a security consultant at Coinspect, a Bitcoin startup.

Rootstock, which was officially launched in early December, is in talks with the World Bank (an international organization that lends money to member countries in need of financial assistance) and some Latin American banks to provide microfinance solutions to the unbanked.
