The Bitcoin Foundation of Greece faces a big dilemma regarding the adoption of Bitcoin by both large and small businesses, so we caught up with the organizer to get his perspective on the matter. Just as many people in the world have the right to be informed and learn about Bitcoin, so do Greeks. The Greek crisis has severely damaged its political and financial systems due to its debt problems. Only the efforts of the people, not miracles, can change this dire situation. Only a few people can create a better world for the rest of us, so they deserve our support, like the Bitcoin Foundation of Greece. They are committed to explaining to individuals and businesses how this technology works and how they can profit from it. On February 12th, the Bitcoin Foundation of Greece invites you to Technopolis in Athens to attend, discuss and meet others in the industry in a friendly environment. Coin Telegraph’s correspondent asked Mr. Demos about the situation and possible future decisions. Coin Telegraph: What do you think of this conference? Demos: If we break the multinational Bitcoin Foundation down into national groups, we could probably call ourselves the Hellenic Bitcoin Foundation. There is a small but rapidly growing interest in this monetary innovation among the Greek people, and there is no doubt that the capital controls that have been in place since last summer in the banking sector are driving this interest. There are many companies and organizations based in Greece that are working on Bitcoin, and they all have open source technology, and the majority of the foundations are made up of volunteers. CT: Why did you join a Bitcoin and blockchain technology foundation? Demos: This new conference in Athens was born out of passion and personal interest in the new Bitcoin industry, which promises to solve the economic fragmentation of the banking industry. This is the first conference we have publicly announced before Bitcoin has made a difference. There will be analytical presentations, both for newcomers and advanced users, and we will be hosting it in one of the most established hubs for tech innovation in Athens. This early announcement is the result of good communication, passion, community-led social action, and economic progress, with highly skilled people coordinating the planning of the conference through Discord, the Bitcoin Forum, and the conference minutes (all three of which have significant network impact). The conference will go as expected, and more importantly, there will be many donations to Bitcoin Experiments! I joined the Bitcoin Foundation to change the world… The conference will be attended by co-organizer Mr. Papaioliu George, who is a visiting professor at the University of Nicosia and teaches the " Master's Degree in Electronic Currency " program. George will give a speech on Bitcoin and blockchain. He commented to Coin Telegraph about the conference: “We aim to have another successful conference, introduce bitcoin to new people and discuss the topic in more depth with all those who are interested.” Another member of the Foundation is Mr. Karasavis Costas, a software architecture engineer at Acrossio, who will discuss Bitcoin innovation and applications at the conference. The foundation already has 86 members and is growing at a steady rate, with more people asking every week how to create something controversial that disrupts the established order and changes the way things are done. |
