Ripple opens European headquarters in London, appoints new management team, expands blockchain business

Ripple, a company that provides financial settlement solutions using blockchain technology, has announced the official opening of its European headquarters in London. In order to meet the increasing demand of the European market, it is very necessary for Ripple to set up a headquarters in Europe. The newly appointed Ripple European General Manager, Daniel Aranda, will serve as the head of the European headquarters, and the newly hired industry veteran Patricia Pittomvils will serve as the sales director. So far, Ripple has established offices in 4 cities in the world to serve global customers: San Francisco, New York, London and Sydney.

With the opening of the London office, the company decided to send Aranda, the general manager of the San Francisco headquarters, to London to lead the company's European business. Aranda was one of the company's first employees and has been a key member of the company's business development team since 2013, helping the company shape its overall development strategy and build customer channels.

Currently, most of Ripple’s partners, such as Santander and Fidor Bank, are from Europe. Aranda will continue to engage and cooperate with banks, regulators and central banks, while building local sales and implementation teams.

As a new member of the Ripple team, Sales Director Pittomvils has nearly 25 years of banking operations experience, of which she has spent 10 years focusing on global corporate payment infrastructure, including Clear2Pay, CGI, Fundtech, Tieto and VocaLink, as well as the UK Heritage Payment Infrastructure. Earlier in her career, she worked as a regional sales manager for SWIFT for 10 years. As Ripple's Head of European Sales, Pittomvils will need to apply her knowledge and practical experience in the payment field to establish and strengthen partnerships with European customers.

Regarding her appointment, Pittomvils said:

“Looking back on my career, I know banking and payment infrastructure inside out, having spent 10 years of my career working with or for companies like VocaLink and SWIFT. I’m excited to take my knowledge of payment infrastructure and use Ripple’s technology to help the industry grow and improve the fundamental way money moves around the world.”
