Silk Road webmaster Ross Ulbricht's prison life revealed

This is a letter from Lyn Ulbricht to Ross Ulbricht.

To our friends at Bitcoin.com,

Ross will celebrate his 32nd birthday (his third birthday in prison) on Easter, March 27. I think Easter is a time of hope and resurrection of the dead and pray that this will be the case for Ross next year.

At one of my birthdays, when I commented that I was getting old, Ross said, "No big deal Mum. A birthday is just another journey around the sun."

Prison is a serious drain not only on Ross’ life, but also on everyone else in it. Ross is such a life-loving, passionate person. It’s hard to fathom how he copes with being in prison. Yet, Ross does his best to stay positive no matter what situation he finds himself in. He expands his mind (he’s currently studying artificial intelligence and physics); helps others (he now leads a GED class so inmates can get their high school diplomas); and stays healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually. We’re so proud of how he handles this.

The most important thing that keeps Ross going like this is the support from great people like you. It's easy to feel alone and forgotten in prison, especially when you're not allowed to use email and the internet. It's definitely a relief for Ross to hear from you, his colleagues, and know that you're out there supporting him; it reassures him that you haven't forgotten him.

We are often asked who Ross is. Answer: He is one of you. He is a man who loves and reveres freedom, believes in uniqueness and individual value. He cares about other people and their goals and dreams.

We deeply appreciate your support during this terrible ordeal, as he will need it to make it through another journey around the sun.
