Lie: Russia's 000Pay accepts Bitcoin payments and is a scam

An unknown Russian online transaction service called 000Pay has announced that it will begin accepting Bitcoin payments. Bitcoin.com dug into the Russian website to find the service to verify whether it is legitimate.

User feedback

By reading various public reviews of the site, we found that the feedback did not look good.

According to the comments on the above link, most of the site’s users have confirmed that this site is indeed a scam. 000Pay.org operates as a fraud and puts users’ savings at serious risk. It says:

"Another scam site is like cash4wm.ru and free-kassa.ru. This site has a standard scam scheme, after receiving your money, the service will not allow users to send, or there are some restrictions. They have your money, and when you want to send the money somewhere, the constant verification starts, then there are technical problems, then they ask you to order their fictitious debit card, and then they stop answering your questions."

In addition, there is a user of the site. The person named Samsonn left a screenshot of his conversation with the customer service in the comments section. Here is the screenshot, where you can see Convo (Russian) exchanged 561 RUB for 511 WMR.

You can see that the payment is in progress and will be completed in "a few hours". Real transactions are not like this, they usually transfer your electronic cash within a few minutes (isn't that the convenience of using electronic money ?) You can see all the screenshots here.

In the news, the matter was mentioned only in a published press release, a small article published by anyone on banki.ru online payment. If you visit this page, you will see a short "news story" about the service and three negative reviews, and below the article it is stated that 000Pay is a scam.

Russia is hostile to Bitcoin activity, and companies using the digital currency can be fined between 3 million and 5 million rubles. Therefore, it is always suspicious when a Russian business claims to accept Bitcoin.

000Pay is a scam and Bitcoin.com advises all users to do their homework before depositing money with these unverified services.

What is 000Pay

Many Russian SEO (search engine optimization) experts and website creators use www.sbup.com to check the legitimacy and rating of their websites. So we decided to use this tool as well, and here are the results:

As we can see above, the trust index of this website is 2.05/10, the page rating is 3.62/10, the page rating of Google is 0, and the Yandex index citations are 30 (this number is achievable for almost any type of scam website if the owners put some effort in SEO).

Now, let's look at the WHOIS data of this website. The domain was first registered on 2013-07-18 and updated on 2015-05-18. However, 000Pay's website claims that they have been in business since 2001. In addition, the registration agency is a proxy limited liability company, which indicates that the real owner of the website wants to hide himself.
