Ethereum has been listed on many exchanges, but Huobi has no plans to do so yet

In recent weeks, digital currency exchanges in Asia have announced the listing of Ethereum token Ether (ETH), including Japan's Coincheck, South Korea's Korbit, and Singapore's Quoine.

Mario Gomez Lozada, CEO of Quoine, said that since listing Ether, his platform has seen a lot of activity in trading Ether:

“On the first day of the launch, we processed several thousand Ethereum transactions, most of which were from traders in Japan, who quickly adopted Ethereum. In a short period of time, our ETH/BTC (Ethereum to Bitcoin) trading volume reached 1,000 BTC.”

Of course, this is because the market's interest in Ethereum trading has been escalating since March, with the market value of Ethereum exceeding $1 billion in early March. But after a period of price fluctuations, the market value of Ethereum fell by approximately $937 million. As of press time, the price of Ethereum is hovering between $11 and $12.

High hopes for Ethereum

Representatives of the exchanges expressed their enthusiasm for Ethereum. They hope that by supporting Ether, the market will pay more attention to Ethereum, especially its applications.

Kagayaki Kawabata, head of business development at Japanese bitcoin exchange Coincheck, said: "Bitcoin is all about money, and we want Ethereum to be something other than money. Therefore, it is natural for us to support Ethereum."

Coincheck not only listed Ethereum, but also allowed traders to borrow up to five times leverage.

Teru Kawabata also said that there are not many people interested in Ethereum at present, but he said that the interest of enterprises in Ethereum may have a driving effect, such as Microsoft.

Gomez-Losada said Ethereum is attracting new traders to his platform and increasing interest in digital currencies and blockchain technology.

“We are seeing a steady stream of new traders joining the platform who are specifically trading ether.”

However, not all exchanges in Asia are ready to embrace Ethereum. Xu Qing, a spokesperson from Huobi, one of China’s major digital currency exchanges, said Huobi is more interested in technology development and has no plans to list Ethereum.

“We have always been open to excellent digital currencies. Any new digital currency needs time to be tested and recognized by the market, from the issuance mechanism to market liquidity.”
