ShapeShift exchange goes offline due to security incident

Digital currency exchange ShapeShift was taken offline earlier this week following a security incident.

Recently, ShapeShift CEO Eric Voorhees published a statement on Reddit , providing more details on the company's decision to go offline, saying that some funds in the company's wallets have been safely evacuated. Customers can get their money within 24 hours of submitting a withdrawal request .

Voorhees wrote in a statement :

"Yesterday afternoon, we became aware of evidence that our server infrastructure had been compromised. We have decided to take down our existing infrastructure and rebuild a new secure environment. This is what we are doing now . While we hate to take our services offline , this is the safest option at this time ."

vooorhees did not give a timetable for reopening online services . Based on the current situation on the official website, it is not difficult to infer that the offline service will last for at least several days.
